REVIEWING THE ECONOMIST
Jean Lamb
This
blog will be a weekly (more or less) review of various articles in The
Economist, a well-known magazine of politics, news, and reports. It has the
best foreign news in a magazine that I know of, and has been around since 1843.
Its origins are in Great Britain, which means excellent coverage of British
issues, though its main focus is on the US. In the past, the editors used to
mention about five different wars that the US should be in (and American
taxpayers foot the bill for). Fortunately, that trend seems to have declined
(you know Trump had to be good for something,
right?).
I look forward to comments on this
blog. However, I do feel free to delete those which don’t seem to pertain to
anything in the blog.
About myself: I spent four years in
the US Air Force in Purchasing and Contracting (though it was known as
Procurement back in those days). I have always had an interest in US national
and foreign affairs, and enjoy educating myself about them, partially through
this magazine. I am a liberal and a feminist, and have been so for quite a long
time. I am a Christian, though of the ‘feed my sheep’ and ‘we have all sinned
and fallen short of the glory of God’ variety.
I hope to have some sort of review
each week.
Let the games begin!
